Free to practise. £2.99 if you want more.

Every mock test, topic test and explanation on this site is free. The optional Pass Pack is a single £2.99 payment — cheaper than the £4.99–£5.99 the big theory test apps charge, and it never renews.

Quick answer

The License Desk is free: the full mock test, all 14 DVSA topic tests and every explained answer cost nothing and need no signup. The optional Pass Pack costs £2.99 once for 12 months. If you want the official DVSA question bank and hazard perception clips, a licensed app (from £5.49) is the better buy — we say so below.

What do you get for free, and what does the Pass Pack add?

The free plan is the whole practice site: a timed mock in the real 50-question format, a test for each of the 14 topics, and Highway Code references on every answer. The Pass Pack adds printable, offline revision material for learners who study better on paper.

How do our prices compare with other theory test apps?

The leading paid apps charge £4.99–£5.99, and the official online kit is £15 for 30 days. Those products include the licensed DVSA question bank and hazard perception clips, which we do not. Our free plan costs nothing; the optional Pass Pack is £2.99 with no renewal.

Prices change — check the provider’s page before buying. We have no commercial relationship with any product in this table. The DVSA test itself costs £23 on GOV.UK whichever you choose.

Who should not pay us?

Most learners should not need to pay anyone. If you are passing our free mocks at 43/50 or better and have practised the free official hazard clips, book your test. If you want hundreds of hazard perception clips, a licensed app gives you more for your money than we can.

  • Already scoring 43+ on mocks? Skip every paid product and book on GOV.UK.
  • Hazard perception is your weak part? Start with the free official clips, then consider a licensed app.
  • Want the official DVSA revision questions? The Official DVSA Theory Test Kit app is £5.49 once.

Why is it cheaper than the big theory test apps?

We sell on the web, so no app store takes a 15–30% cut, and we write our own questions instead of paying for a Crown Copyright licence. That keeps the core practice free and the optional Pass Pack at £2.99. The trade-off is honest: no official question bank and no hazard clips.

Pricing questions, answered

Is The License Desk really free?

Yes. The full mock test, all 14 topic practice tests, every explanation and every guide are free, with no signup and no trial that expires. The optional Pass Pack (£2.99, one-off) adds printable revision material; you do not need it to use the site.

Does the Pass Pack renew automatically?

No. It is a single £2.99 payment for 12 months of access. There is no subscription, nothing to cancel and no card kept on file for renewals.

Are these the official DVSA revision questions?

No. Our questions are original, written to the DVSA syllabus and The Highway Code. The official revision bank is Crown Copyright and sold under licence — by the DVSA’s own app and by licensed apps such as those in the comparison table.

Do you include hazard perception clips?

No. Official hazard perception clips are licensed material. Use the 3 free official clips on GOV.UK and our hazard perception guide; if you want many more clips, a licensed app is the better buy.

What is the cheapest way to prepare for the theory test?

Free: combine the GOV.UK practice test and its 3 free hazard perception clips with the free mock and topic tests on this site. If you want the full official question bank and dozens of clips, the Official DVSA Theory Test Kit app is £5.49 once.
